After almost six years and the Disney acquisition, Deadpool is finally making his way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he’s bringing along Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. The first trailer for “Deadpool and Wolverine” premiered during the 2024 Super Bowl.

In the teaser, we see Deadpool being snatched by the Time Variance Authority while celebrating his birthday. He dubs himself “Marvel Jesus” and promises to inject his R-rated humor and fourth-wall-breaking antics into Disney’s pristine brand. While Wolverine’s face isn’t revealed, we catch a glimpse of him from behind, and Deadpool faces off against him, albeit with only his shadow shown.

Production on “Deadpool 3” hit a snag due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, delaying its release from May 3 to July 26.

The first “Deadpool” saw the anti-hero seeking revenge against Ajax, while the sequel focused on his efforts with the X-Force team against the time-traveling Cable.

Both films shattered records at the box office, with “Deadpool 2” opening with .6 million in North America and the original debuting domestically at 2.4 million, a record for an R-rated film.

Regarding “Deadpool 3/Deadpool & Wolverine,” director Shawn Levy hinted to a “Star Wars” allusion, referring to it as the “Jedi moment” and sharing his thoughts on his own experience co-directing Ryan Reynolds in the Marvel universe.
